Wegener Corp., a global provider of equipment for television, audio and data distribution networks, recently announced equipment orders and releases for two media networks.
Wegener said it received an order from Microspace for 100 Unity 552 enterprise media receivers to support the expansion of a global digital signage network. Microspace provides professional digital signage network management services for a global retailer — and by using Wegener Compel network controls in conjunction with Wegener receiving equipment, Microspace has expanded the network footprint to support close to 500 stores around the world.
The Unity 552 is the company's enterprise media receiver for live, HD video broadcasts over satellite. The compel network control system offers flexibility to manage, schedule, distribute and control playout of media content to Wegener receivers. The system allows operators to control end-user sites by sending commands to individual or groups of receivers to configure video, audio and data outputs, or switch to specific satellite transponders, the company said.
Wegener also announced an order release for 200-plus Wegener iPump 562 media servers and a non-redundant Compel 2 network control system. The units will be used by an international customer managing a governmental media network. In this configuration, the Wegener equipment is capable of supporting live and file-based video applications, such as digital signage and regionalized video insertions, the company said.
