When the David Allen Memorial Ballpark in Enid, Oklahoma, hosted the 2021 National Junior College Athletic Association Division II Baseball World Series in May, spectators not only watched the action on the field, but also on a 19-foot high, 35-foot wide video board manufactured by Watchfire Signs.
"Watchfire delivered the three things we were looking for in a new scoreboard: the best quality, price and support," Sam Robinson, CFO of Enid Public Schools, said in the release. "Enid Public Schools is very excited to have the new video board; it has received praise from everyone who visits the ballpark."
The Watchfire 16 mm video board, installed by Kline Sign, replaced a 13-year-old fixed-digit and video scoreboard. The virtual scoreboard allows the park to personalize the screen with team branding, and the LED video display can chart the score, showcase players, energize fans and show advertisements. Watchfire's live video engages fans with crowd camera shots and action from the game.
The built-in editor can create player profiles for teams. and board operators can switch from a video scoreboard with stats to live footage. Users control advertising zones via drag-and-drop features, according to the release.
David Allen Memorial Ballpark is home to the Enid High School baseball team and the collegiate Northern Oklahoma baseball program. In addition, the stadium hosts more than 400 games a year, including several tournaments, according to the release. Because of the video board's flexibility, Enid is considering hosting outdoor movie nights and concerts in cooperation with the Stride Bank Center, owned by the city.
Based in Danville, Illinois, Watchfire produces virtual displays and video scoreboards. The company has sold electronic signage for nearly 90 years.
