Volta Industries Inc., a producer of electric vehicle charging networks, announced a partnership with Place Exchange for supply-side platform for programmatic DOOH media, after signing a business combination agreement with Tortoise Acquisition Corp. II, according to a company press release.

The partnership expands Volta Charging's programmatic options for media buyers seeking to purchase the company's placed-based inventory from demand-side platforms integrated with Place Exchange.

The partnership also adds options for buyers to purchase programmatic ads from Volta Charging through either a reserved or auction-based transaction structure to ensure that advertising on the Volta Charging network is aligned with brand goals, in-line with advertising tactics and simple to execute.

"We are excited to offer advertisers access to Volta Charging inventory combined with the programmatic buying benefits of ease, flexibility and automation," Nick Bennett, VP of partnerships at Place Exchange, said in the release. "This partnership with Volta Charging enables marketers to further expand their reach to valuable target audiences with high-impact place-based digital displays in prime locations."

Volta Charging builds and operates a nationwide EV charging network across the U.S. Volta Charging seeks to transform the fueling industry by building open-network charging stations in locations where drivers already spend their time and money, including grocery stores, pharmacies and other retail locations, according to the release.

Volta stations feature large digital displays and provide content viewing for both the drivers who plug their vehicles into the stations and the customers who shop at nearby retailers. Volta Charging's media-enabled stations offer brands a content experience platform, including activation and engagement opportunities.

"The enhanced programmatic capabilities derived from our partnership with Place Exchange provides our media partners more options to easily integrate our dynamic high-impact inventory into their plans," Mike Schott, SVP, media sales, of Volta Charging, said in the release. "We are also the first partnership with Place Exchange that is expressly in the EV infrastructure and sustainability space. We believe our unique combination of stations placed directly in a path-to-purchase context and authentic sustainability delivers value far beyond mere DOOH advertising alone."

Volta Charging, founded in 2010, is headquartered in San Francisco. Volta Charging and Tortoise Acquisition Corp. II entered into a business combination agreement in February. Place Exchange was founded in New York City in 2018.
