Vistar Media, a pDOOH technology firm, has partnered with Rain-X ClearView, a Canada-based provider of windshield wash fluid, and the Spinn digital agency for a programmatic ad campaign that uses the Weather Targeting solution from The Weather Company (owned by IBM) for ad targeting based on weather conditions, according to a press release.
Running from Q4 2022 to Q1 2023, the campaign garnered approximately 2.5 million impressions in 13 Canadian metropolitan areas.
"When conditions are right, weather-based targeting can help increase the effectiveness of a brand's campaign by placing engaging, contextually relevant ads in front of the right audience," Marissa Bernstein, VP of Marketing at Vistar Media, said in the release. "Real time weather information – be it rain, sleet, high pollen count or even conditions increasing the likelihood of migraines – can be powerful motivators and capable of moving individuals to take action to prepare for current or upcoming weather."
