ViewSonic Corp., a display solutions provider, has kicked off its Empowering Future Generations initiative with Orange County United Way to help deliver $500,000 in technology solutions to underserved schools. In the first phase, ViewSonic will provide its ViewBoard interactive displays and myViewBoard software to help support students in classrooms at Los Amigos High School and Santiago High School in Garden Grove, California, according to a press release.

The initiative is designed to help identify classrooms that need technology for programs like science, technology, engineering, mathematics and art labs, robotics workshops and esports clubs. ViewSonic recently donated 100 Raspberry Pi compact computing devices for labs and clubs in the Brea Olinda Unified School District in California, according to the release.

"We are very proud of ViewSonic's position as a global leader in providing technology solutions that support collaboration, communication and creativity. These attributes are essential for success in the learning environment as well as in virtually any chosen career path," Jeff Volpe, president of ViewSonic Americas, said in the release. "Since charity begins at home, our initial focus is on supporting schools and students in our backyard. We hope to expand the scope of these efforts more broadly next year as well."
