Providing commercial integrators with a large selection of 4K signal extension solutions, Gefen, the A/V signal management unit of Core Brands, a Nortek company, has introduced the EXT-UHDA-HBT2, a new HDMI extender that uses HDBaseT 2.0 technology to extend 4K digital AV, Ethernet, RS-232, 2-way IR, 2-way audio and 2-way POH compliant power up to 330 feet over one CAT-5e cable, according to a company press release. The product is now shipping from Core Brands.
"Gefen's 4K product offerings have been expanding over the years, and the new EXT-UHDA-HBT2 further strengthens our market-leading position," said Jason Fitzgerald, Core Brands' Gefen product manager. "The new extender provides a robust and resilient signal connection when extending HDMI, Ethernet, RS-232, 2-way IR, and 2-way audio up to 330 feet. The bi-directional power feature allows the pair to be powered from either side of the extension. The low-profile, surface mountable enclosures fit anywhere and work with Gefen locking HDMI cables, guaranteeing a convenient installation."
The EXT-UHDA-HBT2's sender and receiver are compatible with all compliant HDBaseT systems and will interface with sources and displays equipped with HDBaseT. Video resolutions of 1080p and 1920x1200 8-bit can be delivered up to 495 feet. 4K Ultra HD and DCI-Cinema (up to 4096x2160) at 60 Hz 4:2:0 or 30 Hz 4:4:4, LPCM7.1 and HBR digital audio are also supported, the release said.
"In addition to extending HDMI and controls, Optical Digital Audio is sent from Receiver to Sender and analog audio is extended from Sender to Receiver, creating the ability to extend digital audio from a smart TV to an amplifier at the head end, and to route an analog audio source to the viewing location," Fitzgerald said. "And Bi-Directional Power Over HDBaseT provides power from Sender to Receiver or vice versa, over the same CAT-5."
The Gefen Syner-G software provides a path for firmware updates, link quality monitoring and advanced EDID management, according to the release.
