Tripp Lite intros antibacterial Ethernet cables

December 22, 2020

Tripp Lite has introduced its antibacterial patch Ethernet cables for extra protection. These Cat6a cables are 99.9% effective in inhibiting Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus, according to a press release.

The cables come in three different formats: unshielded twisted pair, slim UTP and shielded and foiled twisted pair. The S/FTP cables also support power-over-Ethernet.

"Handling cables can expose installers to bacteria, especially when the cables are frequently touched," David Posner, VP of product marketing, connectivity, Tripp Lite, said in the release. "Tripp Lite's antibacterial Cat6a cables help offer protection from E.coli and staph while connecting a variety of equipment, including computers and VoIP phones, to an Ethernet network."
