June 2, 2009

AUSTIN, Texas — Starmount, a provider of end-to-end solutions for the integrated digital signage and retail professional services industry, announced that industry veteran Tom McGowan has joined the company as vice president of product management. He will lead the strategic development of a unique open-source operating platform framework for digital signage, kiosk and mobile handheld systems.
Tom McGowan is an industry pioneer with more than 25 years experience in digital signage and kiosks in public spaces and casinos. He led the earliest initiatives with Harrah's Casinos to develop standardized "green" messaging systems for customers and employees in 1986. He created the graphical interface for the launch of the very first customized third-party Keno application and participated in gaming license submissions for the State of New Jersey in 1992.
In 1996, McGowan was recognized with the Harrah's Chairman's Award for development of the Harrah's Total Rewards kiosks. The Total Rewards kiosks were the first in the gaming industry to provide patron self-service food comps and feature less than five-second transaction time. He participated in numerous IT initiatives with property management, point of sale, lodging, and casino management systems. He implemented and managed a digital signage software enterprise network for eighteen Harrah's casinos in 1998.
In 2002, McGowan founded Marketing Communications LLC, a digital signage consulting firm that focuses on innovation, organizational development, process improvement and sales efficiency for public space and casino gaming companies. McGowan is an industry veteran with clients including: St. Clair Interactive, Activelight, Intellimat, Avocent, Pioneer, Alpha Video, Broadsign, Scala, Omnivex, Pacific Digital, Jupiterbay, The Digital Signage Group, Evision, 3M, LG Electronics, EDR Media and Funk Linko.
"Starmount continues to enhance our market position with the development of innovative products and services," said Joe Halloum, president and CEO of Starmount Systems.
