Tech Data beefs up digital signage packages for VARs

CLEARWATER, Fla. — Tech Data Corp. has announced its Digital Signage and Projectors Specialized Business Unit, or SBU, has established distribution agreements with HANNspree North America Inc., Hitachi Home Electronics Inc. and Vivitek Corp. Tech Data's IT reseller customers now have access to complete lines of HANNspree HD-TVs, and Hitachi and Vivitek projectors. The SBU also expanded its solutions offering to include Panasonic commercial displays, digital signage bundles from leading vendor partners and nationwide installation support services through TDOnCall.

Tech Data offers resellers all the components of a digital signage solution, including commercial LCDs and plasma displays, content management software, digital media players and PCs, video distribution, switches and signal converters, cabling, mounts and other hardware, as well as complete "digital signage in a box" bundles designed for quick deployment. The SBU is comprised of dedicated resources to assist resellers in designing, scoping and building solutions, and Tech Data's TDOnCall team offers nationwide installation and maintenance for digital signage delivered on resellers' behalf by services provider BMC Solutions.

"Digital signage is among the fastest growing technology segments in the channel," said Tech Data vice president of peripherals product marketing Wendy Linsky. "We will assist resellers infulfilling the demand for these products, especially in key vertical markets like healthcare and education, where I.T. spending is projected to increase due to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act."
