Start-up Short Bites Media provides signage content
June 27, 2010
Digital signage networks have a new resource to fill out their playlists and keep fresh content on their screens. Short Bites Media — founded by Tracey Crowe, former programming manager for a large digital signage network in the financial sector — is a new company specializing in short format video content for digital signage and other media. "Our goal is to provide dynamic, engaging and affordable content that operators of digital signage networks can use to draw in viewers and hold their attention," Crowe said in a press release. "It's crucial for organizations to update their playlists with new content regularly, but it's also challenging to do day and day out. Our packages of plug-and-play video segments help make that possible." The first content packages available include Green Tips and National Park Travel Tips. Future categories include Consumer Tips, Green Tips for the Workplace and additional Travel Tips. Crowe honed her digital signage skills during a 17-year career at Wachovia Corp., where she spearheaded the development of the company's customized digital signage network for 1,200 branch offices. Using end-user research and sales data, Crowe and her team developed video-based content and designed playlists balancing value-added consumer information with Wachovia sales and brand information. "Initially we searched for high-quality, off-the-shelf content to supplement branded segments, but there simply wasn't anything compelling enough for us to buy," she said. "So we created everything in-house." Customized content included general consumer and financial information as well as community-event highlights.
