MCLEAN, Va. — Spacenet Inc., a provider of satellite networking solutions, has announced that Symon Communications, a global provider of digital signage solutions, joined its Digital Media Alliance. The Spacenet Digital Media Alliance combines the expertise of companies to provide a single-source solution for digital content delivery. Digital media applications, including digital signage and interactive distance learning, are increasingly being used by businesses as a way to increase revenues, lower employee training costs, and improve efficiencies.
The alliance was developed to help large enterprise users such as big box retail and restaurant chains to successfully deploy digital signage solutions efficiently. These customers with hundreds or even thousands of geographically dispersed locations face unique challenges.
With a focus on scalability and commercial grade quality of service, the alliance pulls together the best of breed solutions to simplify implementation of digital signage, interactive distance learning, and other applications for IP content delivery. The solutions provided by alliance members include content creation and management, display systems, multi-cast services, satellite and common carrier transport, and in-store installation and integration.
"Spacenet's satellite technology is a valuable content distribution solution that provides advantages over wireline alternatives, and it enables our clients, including large multinationals, to meet employee communications and digital signage goals," said Steve Gurley, vice president of Global Marketing and Business Development for Symon. "Through our alliance with Spacenet, our customers benefit by having a proven and reliable network delivery system for receiving dynamic digital content created and powered by Symon's award-winning digital signage solutions."
