SoloHealth announces FDA approval of health screening kiosks

June 5, 2012

Consumer-driven health care technology company SoloHealth announced today it has received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for its next-generation SoloHealth Station, an interactive, comprehensive health and wellness screening kiosk for consumers.

Currently deployed in select U.S. test markets and retail locations, SoloHealth said it is launching anaggressive national rollout of the SoloHealth Station, projecting the deployment of thousands of kiosks in retail pharmacy locations nationwide by the end of the year. Executives expect to announce partnerships with key retailers and strategic alliances within the next 30 to 60 days as they ramp up for expansion.

The news comes of the heels of the FDA exploring the use of kiosks in pharmacies to educate, self-diagnose and dispense prescription drugs for certain chronic conditions, the announcement said.

"We hold accuracy, reliability and safety standards at the highest level and are pleased to have met and exceeded regulatory standards with the testing trials we have conducted nationwide," said SoloHealth COO Stephen Kendig in the announcement. "With the FDA clearance, we can now aggressively begin our nationwide rollout of the SoloHealth Station."

The SoloHealth Station provides health screenings for vision, blood pressure, weight and body mass index; a symptom checker; and an overall health assessment free of charge. SoloHealth also helps connect consumers to local professionals through its databases, helping people enter the most appropriate and accurate point in the health care system.

As a health care consumer engagement platform, the SoloHealth Station offers highly personalized, targeted and interactive opportunities for consumers, advertisers and retailers by placing kiosks in high-traffic retail locations and offering integration across a multiplatform ecosystem complete with digital signage, Internet, mobile and social media. The multiple-platform approach gives brand partners, consumers and medical professionals the ease of interaction from many touchpoints,  allowing for greater effectiveness and efficiencies.
