SNA Displays deploys outdoor rooftop display near Times Square

SNA Displays recently deployed an outdoor display at 661 8th Street across the intersection from Eleven Times Square. The 84- by 64.7-inch display offers 7.8 million pixels of direct-view LED, according to a press release.

The company had to reinforce the roof with steel bracing and supplementary reinforcements to support the weight of the display. It also worked with media partner BIG Outdoor worked together with New York City's department of buildings to approve the display outside the special-use district.

"This project is near and dear to us for several reasons," Pete Simon, director of sales at SNA Displays, said in the release "It's not every day you get to change the city code, especially with a project this large and high-profile. At SNA Displays, we love doing the projects that nobody thinks are feasible. This one definitely presented regulatory challenges, but following the lead of BIG Outdoor, we got it done."
