Sharp set to ship new 20-inch multitouch display

Sharp Imaging and Information Company of America, a division of Sharp Electronics Corp., recently announced that its 20-inch-class (19.5-inch diagonal), full-HD multitouch monitor, LL-S201A, showcased at InfoComm 2013, has begun shipping.

The LL-S201A, part of the Professional Touch Display product family, packs the power of the award-winning Sharp AQUOS BOARD Interactive Display System into a sleek, lightweight design and is intended to be ideal for use in business, medical and education environments as a complement to the AQUOS BOARD display, the company said.

The 20-inch-class touchscreen LCD panel delivers 1,920-by-1,080-pixel full-HD resolution with performance-enhancing UV2A technology to help prevent light leakage for truly bright whites and extremely deep blacks, the company said.

The 10-point multitouch screen and Palm Cancellation Function prioritizes the touch of the pen over the touch of users' hands so they can write smoothly with the pen, while their hands rest on the screen. When connected to a device running Windows 8, the monitor serves as an intuitive interface and also offers a variety of usage styles:

• Standing Style - A dedicated stand props the monitor at an easy-to-view 75-degree angle, for use as a PC monitor or display.
• Pen Writing Style - Sharp Pen Software utility lets users enjoy natural handwriting functionality, just like the AQUOS BOARD Interactive Display.
• Tablet Style - Laid flat and facing upwards, the monitor can be viewed like a sheet of paper or a tablet, allowing for several people to view at once.

Weighing only 5.1 pounds and approximately 1-inch thick, the thin, lightweight design enables users to easily switch between standing, pen writing or horizontal usage styles, the company said. The LL-S201A also features a narrow half-inch bezel and a "full-flat" screen that's seamlessly flush with the bezel, intended to make it ideal for touchscreen operations that involve swiping from the edge of the screen.

The LL-S201A is now available from Sharp Authorized Pro AV Dealers and Resellers. The shipping weight for the LL-S201A is 9.5 lbs.
