RoboAds, a Palo Alto, California based robotics startup, has introduced a commercial robot called RoboSignage that can display visual content and allow viewers to interact with it in real time via their mobile phones, Faysal ElChamaa, company CEO, told this website. The robot was introduced at the AIBC World Blockchain Summit in Dubai.
The robot can be deployed in public places like airports, malls, trade shows, metro stations and other high traffic areas. While roaming around, RoboSignage displays advertising and allows consumers to connect via remote virtual video calls with customer service agents.
The robot also allows retailers to showcase their products in a digitally evolved setting while reducing the need for physical interaction.
Equipped with four 55-inch digital signage screens in 4K resolution, the robot can navigate autonomously or be teleoperated by a PTZ camera that transmits video in real time.
The mobile platform has skid-steering and omnidirectional kinematics based on four motor wheels, each of which integrates a brushless motor with an odometer sensor.
The robot is equipped with two lidar scanners that enable it to avoid obstacles around it when operating in mobility mode.
