Road Runner Media, a DOOH media company, has expanded its mobile network to improve driver safety and promote businesses to Philadelphia, Washington D.C. and the New York City region, including northern New Jersey and Long Island, according to a company press release.
Across the three regions, Road Runner has equipped more than 160 Siemens technicians' vans with its rear-facing digital brake light, designed to improve safety on the roads and provide national brands and local businesses the opportunity to connect with consumers on the go. In March, Road Runner signed a deal with Siemens to install up to 2,500 screens on Siemens' vans by 2022, according to the release.
Road Runner vehicles with DOOH features are already on the move in Atlanta, Boulder, Colorado, Chicago, Dallas and Los Angeles.
"As we progress with the continued growth of our national network, we are thrilled to see the increased enthusiasm and demand from advertisers and agencies seeking innovative and creative ways to reach and engage target audiences on the move," Chris Riley, CEO of Road Runner, said in the release. "By year's end, we expect to have at least 1,500 Road Runner screens on the roads in major markets across the country, enhancing safety, helping brands connect with consumers and disseminating pertinent information to the public in real-time."
Road Runner installs 46-inch Samsung high-resolution connected screens to the rear of vans and trucks. The screens are integrated into vehicle operations as digital brake lights, giving motorists a signal as to when the vehicle operator is braking, turning, reversing, or activating emergency flashers. When the vehicle is in motion, the screens display brand advertising and public service announcements.
Road Runner Media, which invested $62.5 million in February to grow its DOOH vehicle ad network, is based in Rancho Santa Margarita, California.
