Ricoh launches projection digital signage solution

June 9, 2014

Ricoh Americas Corp. announced it is offering "a large-scale alternative to flat panel digital signage systems" with its new mobile digital signage solution that it said "produces a larger image than conventional flat-panel displays."

Ricoh's projector-based system can provide the creative freedom to project onto curved, conical and even spherical surfaces, the company said

Available now, the Ricoh Digital Signage Solution packages Ricoh's portable PJ WX4141N ultra-short-throw projectors with a Lenovo computer preloaded with Scalable Display Technologies edge blending software, and all the needed cables and accessories for projecting signage or graphics measuring up to 15 feet wide. The solution is designed to be ideal for hotel lobbies, corporate events, hospital foyers, museums, clubs, the company said.

Ricoh will demonstrate the system at the InfoComm 2014 show, June 14-20 in Las Vegas. Ricoh said it is focused on information mobility, helping customers harness the power of information, and this digital signage solution is the newest offering from Ricoh to help customers make information work for them, the company said.

"Traditional digital signage solutions constrain you to the size of the display, its rectangular shape, a flat screen and the place you affixed it to the wall," Ricoh Americas Vice President of Technology Marketing Matt Sakauchi said in the announcement. "For those who need more flexibility — big, bold, shape-shiftable images and the ability to move them around at will — the Ricoh Digital Signage Solution is a perfect way to transform and share information and inspire audiences. It comes with everything you need, fully integrated and ready to switch on."

The Ricoh Digital Signage Solution is based on the ultra-short-throw RICOH PJ WX4141N Ultra Short Throw Business Projection System, which can be placed from 4.6 to 9.8 inches from any wall or screen in offices, classrooms and public spaces, the company said. Each projector displays a 3300 lm image measuring up to 80 inches diagonal.

The MSRP for Ricoh Digital Signage Solution is $15,000 for the two-projector version (up to 10-foot wide projection) and $19,375 for the three-projector version (15-foot wide projection). The solution is available through Ricoh professional AV distributors Shoreview Distribution and Stampede .
