Point Park University in Pittsburgh recently deployed new interactive digital signage displays in the lobbies of several campus buildings, according to the university newspaper, The Globe.
The plan to deploy the screens has been in the works for almost a year and a half, Point Park Vice President of Operation Chris Hill told the paper, and is intended to "reduce clutter" in ccampus communications. The displays are interconnected and display weather, events, productions at a nearby playhouse and transportation information.
"Right now, the system was [to] put up pieces of paper throughout the university," Hill said in the report. "There was no real one location to go to that had information that a student says, 'I want to know whether we have an event or not. Where do I go?' ... These are now locations where you can go and get that information and what we're now able to do is make it even far more than that."
