DigiTimes (Taipei): During a recent press event in Hong Kong, Rudy Provoost, chief executive of Philips Consumer Electronics, said the company has decided to phase out of the plasma display panel market and focus on LCD in the future. Philips ranked fourth in the global PDP market for 2006 with a 10 percent revenue share, trailing Panasonic, LG and Samsung. The Netherlands-based company ranked second in the LCD market with a revenue share of 13 percent, with Samsung being the top player.
