Philips intros social distancing digital signage solution

Philips Professional Display Solutions has introduced its customer counting and line management digital signage solution to help businesses enforce social distancing. This solution will inform customers while also engaging with them, according to a press release.

The displays can deliver real-time updates via audio or a traffic light system. It can also integrate with automatic doors to open or stay shut based on capacity. It runs on the Android system-on-a-chip, which integrators can use to add their own API/software features.

Customers can use Philips' CMS software CMND to share information on one or multiple displays, according to the release.

"Helping our customers is and has always been our top priority, but this is even more important due to the current environment. It is because of that mission and through our partnerships with some of the world's top organizations that we have been able to bring a solution to market within weeks that was not originally in our pipeline," Joseph King, senior director, Philips, said in the release. "Further, these displays can be utilized across a variety of industries and essential businesses and partners have the ability to easily integrate their solutions thanks to our use of the Android operating system."

Philips is currently testing this solution in Europe with installers such as Kersten Retail Techniek, a Benelux region company that is rolling out the solution in stores such as H&M and Footlocker.
