PCAP projected capacitive touch upgrade available for existing devices

March 14, 2017

Display Solution AG, an industrial and medical LCD solution provider, has introduced a solution to upgrade existing devices with resistive touch technology to contemporary PCAP touch operation. Users can replace a resistive touchscreen with analog and identically constructed modern PCT touch panel without any hardware and software adjustments.

The replacement ability is based on the Partner PowerViews patent-pending touch development.

Conventional resistive four- and five-wire touch screens are operated by pressure to the surface of fingers, pen or other devices. The surface consists of two layers, mostly one of glass. Glass surface causes a decrease in brightness, contrast and fuzzy display content. The glass surface is also prone to scratches and abrasion.

The use of PCAP projected capacitive touchscreens on smart phones prompted the industry to also adopt and switch to PCT multi-touch technology.
