Panasonic announces 'green' plasmas

Custom Retailer: Panasonic last week introduced what Chief Technology Officer Paul Liao called "environmentally friendly" plasma displays that produce less than half the carbon dioxide in the manufacturing process than previous production models and contain no lead or mercury. The new models will ship in the next month or so. All told, the line will include seven 1,080p models ranging in screen size from 42 to 103 inches, and two 768p models in 42- and 50-inch sizes. Rounding out Panasonic's plasma offerings are 42- and 50-inch 720p models, which are currently shipping.
