Octopus Interactive, a company that provides interactive screens to Uber and Lyft vehicles, has formed a partnership with Place Exchange, a programmatic DOOH media provider, to make Octopus displays available on Place Exchange's advertising inventory, according to a press release.

Place Exchange connects with demand-side platforms such as Amobee, MediaMath, Roku, The Trade Desk, Ubimo, and Verizon Media to activate programmatic DOOH campaigns. The company's technology enables omnichannel DSPs to unify the buying and measurement of DOOH media with other digital channels.

The partnership between Octopus and Place Exchange comes as the rideshare industry recovers from the disruption caused by COVID-19 and as Octopus continues to expand through 2021.

"Place Exchange customers can now see for themselves the kind of performance delivered with in-vehicle rideshare advertising,'' Ryan Bricklemyer, VP of ad operations and product at Octopus Interactive, said in the release. "There is something special about video in the rideshare environment that creates memorable brand experiences, and we're happy to see more and more advertisers taking advantage of this differentiator."

Octopus Interactive's tablet-based advertising in rideshare vehicles includes proprietary passenger detection technology to ensure that an advertisement has been viewed by an actual person, according to the release.

"Adding Octopus Interactive's unique moving media into our supply ecosystem allows advertisers even more opportunities to reach consumers at key moments during their daily journeys, with the flexibility, automation, and ease of programmatic buying," Nick Bennett, VP of partnerships at Place Exchange, said in the release. "Octopus Interactive's tablets in rideshare vehicles give Place Exchange's buying partners unique, premium inventory in front of a captive, desirable audience."

Octopus Interactive, founded in 2014, is headquartered in Bethesda, Maryland. Place Exchange, based in New York City, was established in 2018.
