New Deal-era building incorporates digital signage

August 5, 2014

Phoenix, Arizona's Phoenix College has integrated 21st century technology into a 20th-century architectural masterpiece with an LED digital signage installation from LED display firm NanoLumens, the Norcross, Georgia-based company announced today.

The college's auditorium is one of several campus buildings in the Art-Deco/Early Mid-Century design, remnants of New Deal-era public works spending, and it serves as the centerpiece for the community college, according to the announcement. It was recently renovated, including the installation of two NanoLumens 5 mm NanoSlim displays, each measuring 181-inches diagonally, the company said.

"The vision and goal was to create an environment conducive to compete with and/or exceed modern Phoenix venues, while honoring the past glory of the historic building," Doug McCarthy, director of facilities planning and development for the school, said in the announcement.
