MainConcept launches SDK for video decoding

MainConcept, a video codec technology provider, has launched its cross-platform ProRes Decoder SDK 1.0 to allow developers to ingest Apple ProRes video content from MOV to MXF containers using any software or workflow solution, according to a press release.

Customers can use the solution alongside transcoding, editing and player applications without installing any third party tools. The solution also provides real-time playback of ProRes footage on Windows, macOS and Linux.

"MainConcept's professional customers have been requesting support for Apple ProRes for quite some time," Thomas Kramer, vice president of product management for MainConcept, said in the release. "We are elated to be the first to solve real-world video production workflow challenges, like decoding of ProRes on Linux, in addition to supporting native ingest of ProRes in both MOV and MXF containers on all major operating systems."
