Light emitting wallpaper may be a reality by 2012

Wallpapers that emit light could soon be a reality by 2012, says Lomox, a Welsh company developing organic light emitting diodes or OLEDs, a technology that could produce ultra-efficient lighting for a wide range of applications. In an article on IBTimes.co.uk, Lomox claims it has developed a chemical coating, which can be painted on to a thin flexible film or surface and could be made to cover walls like wallpaper. This chemical coating, when stimulated by low voltage electricity, will become luminous and emit light that mimics natural light (e.g. sunlight) and will be devoid of the shadows and glare of the conventional light bulb.
