LG is targeting cruise ship digital signage growth, including in-room screens, interactive touch screens and outdoor displays, according to a press release.

"As the leading provider of in-room TVs for the hospitality industry, we are keenly aware of guest and owner expectations for technology-based entertainment and experiences," Jacob Benner, senior hospitality sales director at LG Business Solutions USA, said in the release. "Forward-thinking cruise operators can leverage the latest display technologies throughout a ship to differentiate their services while optimizing use of space and enhancing the overall guest experience through outdoor movie nights, personalized in-room entertainment and interactive touch screens."

As part of the strategy, LG attended the Seatrade Cruise Global 2024 event at the Miami Convention Center this month, with a focus on its DVLED model GNEB, which can be used for a variety of outdoor display types and which features IP67 environmental protection, corrosion-preventing design, and brightness of 6,000 nits. The GNEB offers options of 6.25mm or 8.33mm pixel pitches.

Other cruise-focused product offerings explored included LG Ultra Slim DVLED signage displays, including pixel pitches down to 1.5mm; LG's Transparent Color LED Film, which transforms glass surfaces into digital signage displays; and the LG 136-inch All-in-One DVLED display featuring LG's webOS smart platform, an embedded controller and speakers.

For in-cabin digital signage, LG's offerings include 4K Ultra HD cabin TVs, featuring LG webOS and sizes ranging from 22-inches to 55-inches.

Public digital signage options from LG focused on the cruise ship market include:

  • An 86-inch ultra-wide display.
  • A line of 37-inch "Stretch" displays, designed for columns, hallways, and unique spaces.
  • A 55-inch touchscreen display for wayfinding and infotainment.
  • The LG 55-inch Transparent OLED display.
  • The LG Kiosk, featuring a 27-inch touchscreen.
  • LG 75- and 110-inch 4K displays.

Additional cruise-focused products include LG EV-chargers for visitors of cruise ports to charge electric vehicles.
