August 26, 2016

NBC Olympics teamed up with Leyard, a digital display company, to deploy four LED video walls for the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro from Aug. 5-21, according to a press release.

The company deployed three Leyard TVH Series LED video walls in the International Broadcast Center in Rio de Janeiro and one video wall for NBC’s outdoor set in Brazil. The video walls included one 13-foot by 13-foot wall with 169 displays and one 8-foot by 7-foot wall with 69 displays. Both were designed with 1.9-millimeter pixel pitch for video playback and ultra-high resolution, according to the release.

The video wall on the NBC set included 9-foot by 12-foot wall with 108 displays. It was designed with 2.5-millimeter pixel pitch in-floor display.

"These video walls will be a stunning backdrop to NBC’s broadcast coverage, helping to bring all the excitement of the largest sporting event in the world to life," Atila Ozkaplan, senior director, technical logistics for NBC Olympics said in the release. "We are thrilled to have their technology featured in our studios for what will be an incredible Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro."

Users could adjust the image of the video walls to get the right color temperature or gamma level, according to the release.
