Lamar Advertising Company recently partnered with Rareform, a recycling company, to convert its used polyvinyl chloride and polyethylene billboard material into tote bags, backpacks and shipping pallets, according to a press release.
The company is aiming to reduce the environmental impact of OOH campaigns through this partnership. It has already attempted to reduce its footprint in the past by using solar panels and LED lighting on its billboards, according to the release.
"We have always been committed to sustainable business practices at Lamar and have incorporated eco-friendly practices into our day-to-day business," Sean Reilly, CEO of Lamar Advertising Company, said in the release. "In linking up with Rareform, we are deepening that commitment by giving billboards a second life and ensuring that no billboard winds up in a landfill."
