KC's Hallmark Crown Center deploys wayfinding kiosks

September 28, 2012

Kansas City's Hallmark Crown Center has installed digital signage wayfinding kiosks to assist shoppers, replacing the old-fashioned directory posters. The Crown Center complex houses hotels, entertainment, dining, shopping, offices, residences and the headquarters of Hallmark Cards all on one campus, attracting more than five million visitors annually, according to an article in avnetwork.com.

The kiosks can sort stores and venues by category and display directions to a chosen store or venue. In addition, the mall restaurants can upload menus and tenants can publicize sales or promotions through the kiosks.

The kiosks are a result of the combined efforts of Digital Evolution Group, which designed, built and supports the kiosks' Web CMS, and Popstar Networks, which specializes in digital signage systems and interactive design deployment.

"Of course, we wanted to give our shoppers more accurate wayfinding information," said Chris Ronan, communications manager at the Crown Center. "But we also wanted to be able to push additional information to customers and communicate with our convention and hotel visitors who are unfamiliar with Crown Center."

The Crown Center will place one kiosk on each of the mall's three floors, plus one in the exhibit hall in the adjacent Hyatt Hotel.
