InfoComm14: 3M shows off multitouch solutions for digital signage

3M Touch Systems Inc. exhibited its latest large-format multitouch solutions for interactive digital signage applications at this year's InfoComm, in Las Vegas.

• 55-inch Collaborative Touch Table: 3M showcased its touch concept table implementation, constructed by Ideum, which incorporates the 3M 55-inch projected capacitive prototype touchscreen, highlighted by its ultra-fast touch response for 60 simultaneous touches. The concept table demonstrates how this touchscreen can be ideal for multi-user collaborative applications. 3M said it anticipates that the 3M 55-inch Projected Capacitive touchscreen will be available for commercial display applications in 2014.
• High Performance Large-format Multitouch Systems: For OEMs, ODMs and display integrators interested in developing their own lineup of large-format multitouch devices, 3M is offering its high-performance, projected capacitive multitouch system (sensor and controller), the 3M Multi-Touch System PCT2420PX, in sizes from 32 inches to 46 inches. The PCT2420PX system tracks up to 60 simultaneous touches with ultra-fast response, offers bezel-free, tablet-like integration, and features 3M's high performance 3M Multitouch Controller PX multitouch electronics. These large-format multi-touch systems (32 inches to 46 inches) are now available for sale directly from 3M.
• Immersive Multitouch Display Wall featuring 3M's Multi-display/Multitouch Driver: Exhibited on a display wall composed of nine 42-inch multitouch displays, the 3M Multi-Touch Driver MT7.14 offers Microsoft Windows 8 and Windows 7 applications fast and accurate simultaneous multitouch capabilities that can span across configurations of two or more 3M multitouch displays. This free, downloadable driver enables multitouch software developers to create more immersive applications that enable multiple users to simultaneously interact with multiple displays on a display wall without any noticeable touch lag or interference while moving across displays; or allows a single user to use multiple touch screens at one time in a workstation or wall display environment, the company said. 3M Multi-Touch Driver MT7.14 is currently available for download at www.3m.com/multitouch.
