ID TECH, a manufacturer of automated data entry, mobile payment, point-of-sale and secure payment devices, has expanded its product offering to include digital signage, according to a company announcement.
For more than 20 years, ID TECH has been a hardware manufacturer of POS peripherals, MagStripe readers, mobile payment readers, smartcard readers, barcode scanners, POS keyboards, OEM components, signature capture pads and PIN pads, the company said. And now the company expands into digital signage, with a 21.5-inch outdoor display with a 1920x1080 resolution. The unit's infrared touch screen allows for operation by virtually any type of physical touch, whether it is a finger, stylus or even a gloved hand, the company said. The display also includes an array of different connectivity options such as Wi-Fi, LAN, USB, RS232 and Bluetooth, and is equipped with a built-in webcam for customer interaction and detection.
The display was built to withstand harsh outdoor environments, the company said; designed to operate under direct sunlight in temperatures as high as 140° F, and with a built-in heater to maintain functionality in temperatures as low as -40° F. For extended protection against harsh weather, the exposed front bezel has an IP 65 rating to seal out dust and water. It also has an antireflective coating that reduces glare, and a protective film to protect against damaging infrared and UV rays. The display's automatic brightness control helps keep the screen visible in bight sunlight, as well as conserves energy at night.
The ID TECH digital display is currently being deployed throughout the U.S. by a major quick-service restaurant, the company said, and it will be officially released and showcased at Customer Engagement World in New York City on November 5 and 6.
