HORIZON, General Touch compete with Elo Touch in SAW tech

August 24, 2005

LAKE FOREST, Calif. — Horizon Technology, which specializes in information storage and display products, announced in an Aug. 23 news release a strategic alliance with General Touch to distribute General Touch's line of surface acoustic wave and infrared touchscreens. Horizon's solution may be applied to self-service terminals/kiosks, gaming machines, ATMs and POS terminals.

"With our experience in the display products sector and our existing distribution capabilities, we can offer General Touch as a stand alone product or as part of our customized display solution portfolio," said Dustin Johnson, Horizon's director of business development-displays.

The agreement will pit Horizon against Elo Touch Systems, the market leader in SAW touchscreens, and will provide General Touch an opportunity to expand its global reach.

"Horizon's rapid growth in the industry, strong field sales organization, and well-trained support staff impressed us as a must-have sales channel partner to promote our North American business," said Lang Qin, General Touch's general manager. "Because SAW technology is our core business and Horizon Technology understands that market very well, we expect our partnership will be a very rewarding one for both parties."
