A month after the restrictions began, Germany has reduced strictures on digital signage and DOOH displays, according to a report from avinteractive.com. As reported by Digital Signage Today, Germany had enacted restrictions in the wake of energy shortages related to the war in Ukraine, though there were difficulties with the rollout of the rules related to errors in communication.

According to the report, the German Federal Ministry of Economics has reduced the ban on digital displays from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., a reduction from the original ban on displays from 10 p.m. to 4 p.m. on the following day. Under the new rules, signs can run between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. Also, displays of a business name along with ads at sports and cultural events have been exempted.

"Laws and regulations must make sense and be understandable for all stakeholders," Florian Rotberg, managing director at Invidis (a German digital signage consulting firm) was quoted as saying in the report. "An operating ban for illuminated and light-emitting advertising systems including DOOH and digital signage screens until 4 p.m. during the day was neither sensible nor comprehensible."
