Gefen launches Ultra HD processing solution

Gefen, a Core Brands company, is now shipping its EXT-UHD600A-44, a signal distribution solution. The solution is designed to offer 4K signals at 60 Hertz, according to a press release.

Gefen's solution can offer picture quality u to 4096 by 2160 pixels at 50-frames per second, and it can downscale or upscale between 4K and 1080p. Other features include:

• 4:4:4 Chroma subsampling and High Dynamic Range;
• HDCP 2.2 support;
• 2 USB power ports; and
• Long Range Power to remove the need for an external power supply.

"HDMI's recent update to the 2.0a standard is taking the AV industry by storm and catapulting the possibilities for resolution, color, contrast, and audio signals to new heights,” Jason Fitzgerald, product manager, Gefen, said in the release. "The need for products that switch, split, and extend this new signal format continues to increase as more sources and displays are developed to embrace its capabilities. The addition of the Gefen EXT-UHD600A-44 matrix to the 600 MHz series guarantees that commercial installers can fully utilize the cutting-edge signal standards available today."
