Gameway lounges entice gamers with airport digital signage

Gameway has partnered with Red Dot Digital Media to develop digital signage in its network of airport video gaming lounges, according to a press release.
Gameway says it aims to leverage and repurpose empty retail spaces as airport retail sales continue to struggle in the post-pandemic lockdown landscape. Participating airports include William P. Hobby Airport (Houston, Texas); Charlotte Douglas International Airport Terminal E (Charlotte, North Carolina); Los Angeles International Airport Terminal 3 and Terminal 6 (Los Angeles, California) and Dallas Fort Worth International Airport Terminal 3 and Terminal 6 (near Fort Worth, Texas).
Gameway's videogame lounges measure in at 650- to 1,300-square-feet and feature up to 24 user stations with a mix of PC- and console-based game options. To boost engagement with its unusual business model, Gameway designed lounges with outward-facing digital signage, including two 43-inch Sony displays, which leverage BrightSign XT1144 media player devices to display live videogame feeds and information about the lounge; software includes the Wallboard CMS along with Brightsign BSN.Cloud software. Lounges also feature snack and drink options for the gamers.

Red Dot provided hardware installation along with software and content configuration for the lounges.
"We're pioneering an entirely new experience for travelers, so it is important that we're able to successfully reach an audience unfamiliar with Gameway, and entice them enough to stop, take notice and walk into our lounges," Jordan Walbridge, Gameway co-founder, said in the press release. "Using exterior-facing digital signage has been an extremely effective way for us to attract new customers. The on-screen content is engaging and informative, and it lets customers interact with the space in a meaningful way before they even step foot in our lounges."
