Funeral homes adopting video-tribute kiosks

Kansas City Star: Video memorials, once the province of the very wealthy, are becoming more affordable as video cameras become more common in homes. Funeral homes are adopting the idea of video tributes, often delivered through a touchscreen kiosk that allows mourners to select from a library of tributes and life stories.

Sharon Bahl and her husband recorded their "life stories" after buying their funeral plots. Bahl said the idea of leaving behind a recording of her voice — along with photos and video clips of herself and her husband — was intriguing.

"It would be nice for the grandkids or the kids to be able to hear us and see us," she said. "That became an appealing idea."
