Freetouch, an interactive solutions provider, has won an honorable mention for software from Fast Company's 2021 World Changing Ideas Awards for its Freetouch solution. Fast Company also selected Freetouch as a finalist in the Best World Changing Idea North American category. Freetouch turns any smartphone into a remote control for digital signage and kiosks, according to a press release.
Users can scan a QR code to connect to a display with no app necessary. They can click, scroll, type and perform multi-touch gestures on the display.
The awards honor innovative companies and entrepreneurs that tackle major challenges such as COVID-19.
"When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, the world became acutely aware of the potential for the transmission of pathogens from shared surfaces. These included millions of touchscreens installed worldwide," Darren David, founder and CEO, Freetouch, said in the release. "Freetouch was created to eliminate the need for physical contact with touchscreens, letting anyone touchlessly interact with public-facing displays from the safety of their own personal smartphone. Freetouch provides a verifiably safe means of interaction for the newly touch-averse world."
