Executive Channels seeks to offset carbon emissions of its digital signage network

February 2, 2010

Executive Channel, an Australian office media company, has announced that it will work to offset the carbon emissions produced from its network of digital media screens across Australia.

Since launching in Australia in 2004, Executive Channel has expanded to a network of more than 330 digital media screens installed across 180 office towers nationally. The carbon emissions produced from the entire network, including screens and media players, have been calculated and will be fully offset for the 2010 year.

Executive Channel has teamed up with Carbon Neutral Limited, a non-profit company working with hundreds of organizations to measure, reduce and offset greenhouse gas emissions and support re-vegetation projects.

"Executive Channel clients will now be able to advertise knowing that the emissions produced by running their campaign on our network of digital screens will be fully offset," said Charles Parry-Okeden, Executive Channel director. "Very few media outlets can offer this unique benefit to its clients."

As part of Executive Channels commitment, Carbon Neutral will retire Greenhouse Friendly-accredited Verified Emission Reductions (VERs) to immediately offset the carbon produced.  In addition to this, Carbon Neutral will plant 660 trees and shrubs of mixed native species in managed forests around the country. It is anticipated these plantings will directly benefit the environment by restoring biodiversity and addressing local issues relating to salinity and land degradation.

"This initiative is a very proactive way that we can work with our property partners to offset the carbon emissions from our network and do something positive for the environment," said Craig Cohen, Executive Channel CEO.
