Electric vehicle adoption is reshaping how Australian consumers move and connect via smarter vehicles, improved technology and increasing access to public charging.

The behavior changes are creating opportunities for brands to connect with consumers at scale, according to a Jolt customer insight report. Jolt, based in Australia, offer free EV charging and a digital out of home network.

The report reveals EV ownership is reshaping how Australians think about energy, transportation and their lifestyle habits, causing them to shift to more eco-friendly practices — and they expect brands to follow, according to a press release.

"For many EV drivers today, owning an EV is much more than transportation — it's a way of life. EV ownership has become an identity marker associated with more eco-conscious behavior, starting people on a journey to greener habits across all areas of their lives," Jolt Senior Global Data and Strategy Manager Randall Taylor said in the release.

"The spread of progressive customers into mainstream thinking is good news for brands. EV drivers are a highly engaged, values-led audience, open to messaging focused on sustainability and the environment, and they are willing to invest in products and services that align with those values."

The report also explores the evolution of EV charging, revealing that drivers now include charging as part of their daily lives. Six in 10 Jolt customers said that public charging had become a natural part of their routine, with drivers splitting charging time between everyday tasks, like grocery shopping and screen time, catching up on their favorite shows scrolling their socials or listening to podcasts.

Seven in 10 Jolt drivers said they wanted more chargers near shopping centers, restaurants and entertainment areas, demonstrating how chargers foster economic participation and contribute to urban vibrancy.
