E Ink showcasing digital signage, smartphones at CES15

A variety of low-power display options, shelf tags and conference room signs will be part of the company's offering at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

E Ink Holdings, the global provider of electronic ink and display technology, today announced it will unveil "a first-of-its-kind concept that will revolutionize the way we experience public spaces" as well as electronic and digital signage display solutions at the upcoming CES 2015.

Electronic paper displays from E Ink are recognized as the technology that enabled the e-reader market, the company said, and the same displays are also responsible for creating new features and designs in a host of new products in mobile, home wares, transportation, travel, retail and other applications.

E Ink products of note include:

  • Digital Signage solutions - support the deployment of public information displays with low power consumption;
  • The YotaPhone 2 - dual-screen smartphone with touch capabilities and an always-on E Ink display;
  • The Sony Smartband Talk - fashion activity wristband with a curved E Ink display, voice capability and extended battery life;
  • Joan - conference room calendar system that "always lets you know who really has booked the conference room";
  • Electronic shelf tags – tags to enable retailers with dynamic pricing strategies and to integrate the physical store into omnichannel retailing;
  • PocketBook CADReader - a lightweight and rugged device integrated with AutoCad;
  • The Twelve24 ClockONE - an ultrathin, meter-long clock weighing in at 4 pounds and inspired by the capabilities of E Ink electronic paper displays; and
  • Vikaura – app-driven wireless displays where friends can share messages and pictures.

The International Consumer Electronics Show showcases more than 3,500 exhibitors, including manufacturers, developers and suppliers of consumer technology hardware, content, technology delivery systems and more; a conference program with 250 sessions; and more than 150,000 attendees from more than 140 countries. It's scheduled for Jan. 6-9 in Las Vegas.
