E Ink Holdings, a provider of electronic ink technology, has expanded its color ePaper line for use in digital signage, retail, education and other areas. In particular, the company is introducing its ePrint Color technology, which uses a color filter array, in conjunction with E Ink's Carta 1100 ink, according to a press release.
The technology removes the need for a glass-based CFA and improves optical quality. This helps create a thinner and lighter display that resembles an eBook. The ink also provides quicker updates for animations and video.
In addition, E Ink is offering its Advanced Color ePaper solution to smaller displays. This ACeP technology uses only colored pigments to deliver a full color image by having all the pigments in every pixel, according to the release.
"E Ink is very excited to showcase this portfolio of new color products for smart signage, retail and education," FY Gan, president of E Ink, said in the release. "E Ink has continued to invest in technology development throughout our history, and these new color offerings allow our customers greater flexibility in realizing their product visions."
