DSE13: SAPPHIRE showcases digital signage player at Scala booth

Hong Kong-based SAPPHIRE Technology Ltd., a manufacturer and global supplier of IT and pro AV products, exhibited alongside Scala at the recent Digital Signage Expo in Las Vegas.

SAPPHIRE showcased its recently introduced EDGE VS8 player PC, equipped with an A8 1.9GHz quad-core CPU, 4Gb of DDR3 So-DIMM memory, and a 500Gb SATA hard drive, to drive Scala's sophisticated digital signage software. The SAPPHIRE EDGE VS8 player PC is built on the latest Accelerated Processing Unit technology from AMD, delivering performance a in an ultrasmall format. A powerful addition to the EDGE product line, the VS8 can run the latest A/V formats using less than 19W under load. This compact, energy-efficient player features Wi-Fi connectivity, six USB ports and dual-display functionality via MiniDP and HDMI ports.

"We are thrilled to be exhibiting in the Scala booth, where we have the opportunity to show attendees how effortlessly SAPPHIRE player PCs drive Scala software," said Adrian Thompson, vice president of marketing for SAPPHIRE, before the show. "One of the hallmarks of SAPPHIRE's Pro AV product line is how well it complements other products and solutions, and this is the ultimate show of interoperability."

The EDGE VS-series of player PCs also includes the VS4, an A4 1.9GHz dual-core alternative with 4Gb of DDR3 So-DIMM memory and a 320Gb SATA 2.5-inch hard drive.

Measuring less than 8 inches in length, EDGE VS-series player PCs are intended to be easy to install almost anywhere, including to the back of a wall using a standard VESA mounts. Also, SAPPHIRE said, their quality construction makes them capable of withstanding rough handling and less than ideal operating conditions.
