DSE13: Adder demos digital signage extenders, proof-of-display

March 6, 2013

Connectivity solutions provider Adder Corp. showcased its new and upcoming products for the digital signage and custom installation markets at last week's Digital Signage Expo in Las Vegas.

Exhibiting alongside digital signage software provider and technology partner Scala, Adder is offering a technology preview of its HDMI point-to-point and point-to-multipoint extenders, due for release later in the year. The new technology is able to intelligently interrogate its own network to determine whether specific content is being displayed on connected screens, enabling advertising networks to offer payment structures based on an accurate proof-of-display basis.

With a 50 meter (150 foot) extension distance, this cost-efficient HDMI extender is also extremely power efficient using only 2.5 Watts per link, according to Adder. The point-to-point system supports HDCP and full EDID pass through ensuring correct operation.

The four-way transmitter unit also features automatic fail over, allowing two digital play-out machines to be connected and automatically switching if the video output from one unit should fail.

Adder Corp. VP Tim Conway said his company's solutions "offer digital signage professional installers pixel-perfect digital video with low power at an efficient price point, making them ideal for the digital signage market. By partnering with Scala at DSE we are able to demonstrate how the industry can create better signage solutions"

"We are delighted to be hosting Adder on our stand," said Clive Fort, director of product management for Scala. "Their offerings in connectivity and extension together with features in proof of display and player redundancy add to the overall Scala offering."
