Magenta Research highlighted its Voyager fiber optic signal distribution platform at Digital Signage Expo 2011 in Las Vegas.
Voyager is an interoperable set of transmitters, receivers, distribution amplifiers and matrix switchers, according to the Magenta Research website.
Magenta Research founder and CEO Keith Mortensen called Voyager a digital- and fiber-based distribution system and said the company was "very excited" about the product, which it launched last year.
Voyager is "very modular," Mortensen said, and can be used for analog video, digital video, DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort, YUV and VGA. It's also "very flexible" and can be used for control signals such as USB, RS-232 and analog audio, he said. Voyager's cross point switch is capable of 160 inputs to 160 outputs, "and it's all based on fiber, whether it be multimode or single mode, depending on the distance that you have to go," he said.
"So it's a very, very flexible product, and it really is where we feel the future is going as well," Mortensen said. "It offers a great upgrade path for people that have large scale systems involved, and their capital investment is maintained into the future."
