Distribution amplifiers help small businesses with digital signage
January 8, 2008
LAS VEGAS — Cables To Go, a provider of cabling and connectivity solutions, has announced the addition of audio/video distribution amplifiers as part of the company's line of products for implementing digital signage. The amplifiers are designed to add more versatility and make digital signage solutions affordable for organizations with implementations up to 16 display screens.
"There are a number of ways to do digital signage, but typically, installations have been high-end and exclusively for larger companies," said Gary Hess, Cables To Go director of product management. "Now Cables To Go is making it easy and affordable for smaller organizations to deploy digital signage and video distribution."
The amplifiers transmit high-definition digital video signals from a single A/V source to multiple displays without degradation of picture quality. Signals can be carried up to 150 feet, and users can support up to 16 displays from a single source such as DVD, satellite and CD audio.
Cables To Go said one of the most popular products has been the VGA over Cat5 Extender, which allows a VGA signal to be run over a Cat5 cable. The signal can be carried up to 1,000 feet without any picture noise or degradation. It also said it is easier and more cost efficient to run long lengths of Cat5 cabling than to run VGA cables, particularly when transmitting to multiple displays. For USB devices, the USB SuperBooster extends the reach of a USB signal up to 150 feet over Cat5 cable.
