Digital View releases hi-def media player with frame-accurate, multiscreen synchronization

May 16, 2010

Digital View, the media player company and manufacturer of the ViewStream range of digital signage products, announced today that it has released a high definition media player that offers frame accurate synchronization across multiple players.

The ViewStream VS-450 is the latest addition to Digital View's ViewStream family of specialist media players for the digital signage, retail point-of-purchase and museum markets.

A dedicated media player, the VS-450 is optimized for seamless track-to-track play-out of all major 1080p video formats and stills from a stable, trouble-free linux core. It has full support for playlist scheduling and can be programmed for a host of different interactive & RS-232 control options using Digital View's free scheduling tool, ‘DV Studio,' according to a release from the company. Content is updated via local USB stick.

Digital View says the VS-450 offers frame-accurate synchronization functionality, but in full high definition, at a fraction of the cost of using standard pc-architecture and with 24/7 reliability.

The ViewStream VS-450 outputs crystal clear high definition 1080P media at 60 frames per second through HDMI, DVI & VGA connectors. Supported codec formats include MPEG-1, MPEG-2 (PS, TS), MPEG-4 (DivX, XviD, AVC, H.264) & QuickTime with the following container formats (.mpg,.mp2,.mp4,.m2v,.avi,.wmv,.jpg,.bmo,.gif) and professional quality audio (via SPDIF).

The VS-450 is a compact solution that measures 248mm(W) x 186mm(D) x 55mm(H) and weighs 1.2Kg. The company says it is an easy to use, ‘unpack & play' solution with a built-in linux operating system and DV-Player media player software, offering high reliability and an MTBF in excess of 100,000 hours.
