Digital signage to see boost in retail, education
May 21, 2007
CRN Canada: NEC Display Solutions, based on Itasca, Ill., recently wrapped its digital signage summit. Some of the highlighted applications:
- A retail store in Berlin that attracts shoppers (particularly of the male variety) by using rear projection to broadcast lifelike digital images onto its storefront windows of women modeling lingerie.
- An Adidas store in France that has opened a high-tech retail center on the Champs-Elysees, where consumers can digitally custom-build their own running shoes and then model their digital kicks in a virtual mirror.
- A Madrid billboard that enables nearby cellphone users to broadcast their own SMS messages for public viewing.
