Digital signage firm created bespoke solution for 2012 Olympics

September 24, 2012

Specialist manufacturer of outdoor LCD enclosures DOOH Limited manufactured a bespoke solution for one of the London 2012 Olympic sponsors, according to a company release.

The Olympic digital signage solution was intended to provide an animated presentation on the 47-inch portrait screens, while a static printed poster was on the rear of the outdoor portrait LCD enclosures. One of the sides of the kiosk had LEDs to entice passersby to take a look at the video and printed posters. The lights and content had been synchronized through the media player so the stories rolled from screen to screen.

The adverts were stored on a network-enabled media player that was updated and monitored through an Internet connection. As part of the presentation, the video had audio accompanying it that was fed through 2 x 100 watt speakers by an amplifier that was inside each of the outdoor digital signage kiosks.

The portrait flat panel enclosures (nine in total) were configured to thank the public for their support from the sponsor; they also displayed personal stories from the athletes who had received funding and how they had overcome personal issues to become Olympians.
