Digital Signage Expo announces new industry association
February 16, 2010
Digital Signage Expo, a producer of tradeshows, has announced it is creating The Digital Signage Federation, a new association for the digital signage industry.
A press release says the association will launch this year as an independent, member-owned 501c non-profit organization and provide a "full program of member services" and a year-round education program focused on different industry verticals, catering to five categories of membership.
DSE said that it will provide seed funding for the association, which will then charge membership fees. John Johnson, a former senior executive for the International Sign Association, is serving as consultant and interim executive director.
Currently, the only association exclusively dedicated to the industry is the Digital Signage Association, which is owned and operated by NetWorld Alliance, publisher of this Web site. DSE's announcement comes after weeks of discussions among DSA board members, as well as related blog posts on DigitalSignageAssociation.org, about whether DSA should become independent of NetWorld Alliance and solicit bids from management companies to run a tradeshow in the name of the association.
Representatives from neither DSE nor DSA were available to comment as of this posting.
